What Planet Zoo 2 Wildlife Reserves are

Planet Zoo 2 Wildlife Reserves are large, editable regions outside the player's zoo where the player rehabilitates the site and releases animals in species-appropriate groups. Reserves use the same biomes and scenery themes as the main zoo, plus a per-reserve mission structure that tracks conservation projects. The Wildlife Reserves system is the largest single new feature in Planet Zoo 2 and the place where the optional Prospering welfare state, the breeding programme, and the conservation record all meet. The representative regions for each biome include the Sumatran Rainforest Wildlife Reserve for Tropical and the Scottish Highland Wildlife Reserve for Temperate.

Conservation project flow inside a Planet Zoo 2 Wildlife Reserve

  1. Pick a reserve

    Open the Reserves menu and pick a region. The reserve comes with a starting conservation project and a target species list.

  2. Rehabilitate the site

    Use the foliage and terrain brushes to clean up the site. Restoration starts with the existing terrain and then the player sculpts a species-appropriate landscape.

  3. Release species

    Release species from the player's breeding programme in species-appropriate groups, not one at a time. Group release matches the social-group size from the Zoopedia.

  4. Track projects

    Track conservation projects on the Reserve status panel. Project progress raises biodiversity and pushes toward reserve accreditation.

Planet Zoo 2 Wildlife Reserves lift the 5-Star Zoo Reputation bar through the Sustainability and Animal Husbandry factors. The Sustainability factor benefits from the conservation record and from the renewable practices the player adopts in the reserve. The Animal Husbandry factor benefits because released animals run through the same welfare check inside the reserve, and the optional Prospering state can be unlocked per species. Reserve accreditation is a separate status that tracks reserve-level conservation, but it also feeds the main zoo's rating through the conservation record.
