9 scenery themes at launch: 5 returning from Planet Zoo 1 and 4 brand new. Match each theme to the matching biome, recolour cross-theme pieces with flexi-color, and use the Frontier Workshop to subscribe to scenery creators.

The 5 returning Planet Zoo 2 scenery themes

The 5 returning Planet Zoo 2 scenery themes are carried over from Planet Zoo 1 and cover the architecture that was already strong in the original game: European/American temperate architecture, Tropical architecture, Arid/desert architecture, Boreal/taiga architecture, and Tundra/arctic architecture. These 5 themes remain useful because they pair with the matching biomes the player will already be using. Tropical architecture on a Tropical biome habitat, or Boreal/taiga architecture on a Taiga habitat, gives the most consistent guest-facing look with the least scenery switching.

The 4 brand-new Planet Zoo 2 scenery themes

The 4 brand-new Planet Zoo 2 scenery themes expand the architectural set to global architectural styles that were not represented in Planet Zoo 1. Each new theme ships with its own scenery pieces, props, and building pieces that fit a global architectural style, and the props slot into the same scenery library as the returning sets. The scenery library overall pairs with an expansive set of scenery items for building, themed props, and deco pieces. The library is shared across themes, so pieces from one theme can be placed inside a habitat built with a different theme, as long as the result is visually consistent.

How to mix themed props in Planet Zoo 2

Match the climate band
Tropical props look correct on a Tropical biome habitat and on a Sumatran-style Reserve. Tundra props look correct on a Tundra biome habitat. Crossing climates (Tropical props on a Tundra habitat) is allowed but should be limited to deco-only spots.
Use flexi-color to recolour
Every theme piece is recolourable, and recolouring pieces from a different theme to match the local palette makes the cross-theme mix invisible.
Where to find them
The scenery themes are accessible from the Construction menu (7) and the Nature menu (5) for foliage pieces that match each theme. The Habitat menu (4) lets you pick themed enrichment pieces and themed shelters from inside the habitat.

Where Planet Zoo 2 scenery themes pay off the rating

The Planet Zoo 2 scenery themes feed the Guest Experience factor of the 5-star Zoo Reputation through scenery and decoration. Three rules raise the rating from scenery work. Diversify across zoo themes rather than commit to one: the first 5 themes already span five climates, and the 4 new themes add cross-cultural architecture, so the deck of themes is wider than in Planet Zoo 1. Match scenery theme to the biome inside each habitat: mixed-species habitats that share natural environments deliver higher welfare, stronger education impact, and better Guest Experience ratings. Use the Frontier Workshop to subscribe to creators who ship scenery builds: scenery builds slot into the placement queue with the same settings as scenery-built boxes and blueprints.
